CCCapital Corner

Community Choice

The town's favourites, chosen by the town.

Every week we ask one question — best Sunday roast, best barber, best dog walk — and local people answer in their thousands of small ways. The results are tallied, verified and published. That's it. No panel, no jury, no thumb on the scale.

The weekly rhythm

Saturday

The question goes out in one of our managed groups — the two alternate week by week.

Saturday – Tuesday

Locals nominate in the comments. Duplicates are merged, ineligible entries set aside, everything tallied by hand.

Tuesday evening

Nominations close.

Wednesday

Independently verified results are published, with the tally method on record.

Sponsorship disclosure

Sponsors never touch the result.

  • • A results post may carry one clearly disclosed sponsor, who must not compete in that week's category.
  • • Sponsorship buys presence beside the results — never influence over nominations, votes or ranking.
  • • The sponsor's logo sits secondary to the editorial result, always.
  • • Sensitive categories — schools among them — are unsponsored by default.
  • • We don't equate a post's total views with guaranteed sponsor impressions; reports use measured figures with their definitions.

Sponsorship is currently a pilot, arranged in conversation. A public results archive will live here once the programme has history worth archiving.

We're straight about what this is: a popular community question, not a scientific poll. Its value is exactly that honesty — real locals, really answering.

This chapter of the new Capital Corner site is being built. In the meantime, the fastest way to get the full picture is a conversation.
